Bengal Tigers, Champion of SM 40 overs league

Bengal Tigers made it afterall. After today's defeat of Empire CC, made it confirmed that Bengal Tigers became the new champion team of Finnish 40 overs cricket league. In 8 matches Bengals gained 48 points loosing only 2 matches. This major achievement was only possible because of the hard work of the players ,mangement and ofcourse for all the supports. With this success, Bengal Tigers have now passed the maximum criteria to play in the 50 overs (A division) cricket league next year. Celebration is observed among the players and the Bangladeshi comunity here in Finland. This joy is not only for the Tigers team but also for each of the Bangladeshi in Finland. 6 wickets victory against Tampere to finish it in style

Bengal Tigers wiped off Tampere cc by a 6 wickets win on the last match of 40 overs Finnish Cricket league. The last match was at the home ground for Tigers, in Espoo. Some local support and spirited Bengal Boys made the last match a very successful completion for the Tigers of their 3 months campaign. Batting first, Tampere started a flowing innings before the openers were departed in short interval. Controled bowlings could not let the visitor make more than 127 as they were bowled out in 32.2 overs. Jewel picked 3 wickets for Tigers. Chasing the target for a must needed win , Bengal had a sorry start. Loosing both the openers and the fall of fourth wicket on the half way of the match, was certainly shaking the Tigers bench. But master batsman Titu handle the situation with his experience and finally got a partnership with Ruben.It took only a while for Ruben to set up before he entertained the home crowed in style with sixes and fours. Both Titu (44*) and Ruben (37*) batted till the end with responsibility and brought the well deserved win against Tampere.

Next and Final scheduled match of SM 40 for Bengal Tigers to be played against Tampere CC at Espoo. The number 1 team at SM 40 league will insure a spot in the next year's 50 overs league. 2nd best team will have to play a match against the last team of first division league and the winner will qualify for the SM 50 also. Tigers would like to welcome everyone to come and enjoy the match on Saturday 30th.

Osman Shakil's 5 wickets haul sealed an easy win for Bengals' against Vaasa

Bengal Tigers got a comprehensive win of 8 wickets against Vaasa cc on their second last match of the Finnish 40 overs championship. Wet and overcasted weather was the only threat for the Tigers on sunday but spirited Bengals finished the match very fast to get the full 8 points. Batting first Vaasa was all out by 67, thanks to midium pacer Shakil Sr who picked the season's first 5 wickets haul for the tigers. Other bowlers also bowled committted overs to keep the oposition under pressure. Specially Jamil bowled a very tight spell of 3 for 10 in 8 overs.

To chase the easy target of 68, Bengals never looked worried even though 2 wickets cost them only some extra time on the match. With 1 match remaining, Bengals now leading the point table. Last match for the Tigers will be against Tampere CC ,to be played at the home ground Espoo on 30th August. Tigers' crushed Finn-Asia by 6 wickets in SM 40

Bengal Tigers are back on the speed with a 6 wickets win over Finn-Asia played at Espoo today. An hour late arrival of the visitor could claim Bengals' a walk-over victory but nice sportsmanship led the home team win it by playing. Finn-Asia was put to bat first and never found any chance to build any partnership as Tigers opening bowlers Kamran and Shakil Sr brought some early break through for them. Since then it was much easier for the Bengals to keep the visitor under pressure. Skipper Jewel came to action and yet made the situation worse for the Finn-Asia by picking 3 wickets with a double maiden wicket haul. Spiner Titu also bowled some controled overs and picked 2 wickets to help destroying Finn-Asia for 67 in just 19 overs.

Some home supports for the Tigers made it even easier to start the innings for Bengal. However Ruben's early wicket and 2 needless runout made the chase lenghty for the Bengals but Shakil Sr and Jr took the contorl and brought the must needed victory. With this 6 wickets win ,Bengals now are much more energetic and positive for the match against Vaasa next weekend.Thanks for the supports and see you next week.

Defeat for Bengal Tigers against Empire

Bengal Tigers lost against Empire CC on their 5th match in SM 40 league. Batting first ,Tigers managed to collect 128 in 28 overs. Once again poor batting performance from the top and middle orders resulted the cheap total on the scoreboard. Shakil Jr top scored 47 before he was out. To defend the low total of 128 ,Tigers made a good start as Jamil picked 3 early wickets but after that Empire capitilized on sinlges as Tigers fielding was poor. Last five overs of the match brought some climax as Bengals managed to pick 4 quick wickets. But it was never enough to rescue Bengal Tigers from a 3 wickets defeat in an important match of the league.
